Neck Skin Care

Millions of women ignore their neck area. They are likely to start taking care of neck skin when they see deterioration. The fact is neck skin is more fragile than facial skin. The neck skin is thinner and has less fatty tissue and sebaceous glands than the facial skin. In addition, the neck muscle is not connected to the bone structure, making it easy to lose elasticity. All these factors cause the skin on your neck to show the signs of dryness, premature wrinkling, discoloration, and pigmentation spots.

Neck skin careTo prevent this area of your body from developing premature aging, treat it as a part of your face.

– Cleanse: Avoid using too harsh cleansers and products rich in alkaline such as soaps on your neck. These cleansers make your skin dry and irritated. Instead, use your facial cleanser on the neck area.

– Moisturize: Apply your facial skin care products to your neck. To prevent the neck from sagging, apply a cream using firm upward strokes. Start from collarbone up to your chin.

– Exfoliate: Exfoliation is one of effective treatments for dark neckIt removes dead skin cells, dirt, and impurities from your neck and allows the skin to better absorb moisturizers. Apply a facial scrub to the neck area and massage onto the skin using slow, circular motions. Do the exfoliation once a week.

– Protect the neck skin from the sun: Sun’s rays are the main causes of wrinkles, age spots, and skin discoloration. UVA and UVB rays increase free radicals that damage skin cells and accelerate aging process, resulting in premature wrinkles. Sun’s rays also trigger the melanin production. Melanin is a pigment that the body produces to shield the skin from the ultraviolet rays. The more you expose to the sun, the more melanin the body will produce. Melanin darkens your skin, and abnormally high concentrations of melanin will be clumped together, causing an age spot on the skin.

To protect your skin, apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or above and stay out of the sun between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. when sun’s rays are strongest.

To lighten the neck skin, rub lemon on the affected area and leave the juice on for 10 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water. Pat dry and apply a moisturizer. Do this twice a day until the blackness completely vanishes. Lemon is a natural bleaching agent.

– Exercise: The best form of workout for your neck is stretching. Slowly stretch your neck backward and hold for 30 seconds. Then stretch it forward and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat three cycles.
